GRF Angling update January 2021
We are in the middle of a fishery management project which will see more consistent catches and improvement of the sport on all three fisheries.
We have had a major tidy up of the banks and around the islands in Mallard Lake, trimmed up the lily beds and we are in the process of removing some of the excess silver fish.
This will allow the Tench and Carp to thrive and be caught on more regular basis.
Heron Pool is also undergoing a bankside tidy up and work will start on swim maintenance in the near future.
Kingfisher Pond is now a part of the EA scheme to reintroduce genuine Crucian Carp to the fishing landscape. We have removed all other Carp from this lake and stocked Crucians, Tench and Rudd to create a lovely float fishery, just like Mr Crabtree used to fish.
About The Lake
Heron Pool is a small purpose built fishery, originaly a final growing-on pond is now a super little water. It is approximately 3/4 acre in size and is stocked with some superb Carp, Tench and Bream. You really will enjoy fishing it.
With seven swims (three double platforms) on the water the fishery is never crowded with anglers.
The fishery is the focal point of our holiday lodges, Seasonal pitches and C&CC CL'.
Our guests enjoy the a chance to fish during their stay, or just relax with the view over water, there is something about taking it easy by the waterside and just watching the wildlife about their business.
The stock is a mixture of
Carp to 15lb
Tench to 4lb
Bream to 4lb
And a few Wels Catfish to 14lb
